Altogether 699,854 passengers passed through the ports of Estonia's state-owned Port of Tallinn in April 2016, which is a similar result to April 2015, reports LETA/BNS.

As usual, the number of passengers was the biggest on the Tallinn-Helsinki route, 614,510, and passengers of that route accounted for 87 percent of the total number of passengers. Passengers traveling between Tallinn and Stockholm numbered 77,269, making up 12 percent of the total passenger number, and passengers on the Tallinn-St. Petersburg route 7,942, making up 1 percent of the total, the port company said.

The listed Estonian shipper Tallink Grupp served 65 percent, the Finnish shippers Viking Line and Eckero Line respectively 18 percent and 16 percent, and St. Peterline 1 percent of passengers in April.

Of ships, Tallink's Star carried 135,859 passengers, followed by Tallink's Superstar, which carried 132,063 passengers, and Viking Line's Viking XPRS as third with 126,044 passengers. All the ships ply the Tallinn-Helsinki route.

The ports received 440 visits by passenger ships during the month.

In the first four months of the year 2.6 million passengers passed through the ports of the port company, which is 6 percent more than in the same period in 2015.
