Balta first in Latvia to include terrorism risk in travel insurance

BC, Riga, 05.04.2016.Print version
Customers taking out travel insurance with Latvian insurance company Balta will now be able to insure themselves also against the terrorism risk, informs LETA.

Balta announced that it has become the first insurer in Latvia to offer such insurance service to the general public.

In the light of the tragic terrorist attacks in the EU member states during the past month, Balta will on April 5 start offering its customers an opportunity to insure themselves against the terrorism risk when travelling abroad.

The terrorism insurance will cover direct damages from an act of terror. Risks of medical expense and repatriation costs as well as accident risks will be included in the travel insurance extending to the acts of terror.

Travelers will not be charged an extra premium, if they choose to include in their travel insurance the optional terrorism risk insurance. The maximum indemnity is EUR 10,000 per insured person.
