City Council denies rumors about Russian events exiting Jurmala

BC, Riga, 19.12.2014.Print version
Jurmala City Council representatives are denying the public rumors about "New Wave", "KVN", and "Comedy Club" exiting Latvia, the Jurmala City Council informed LETA.

The council's spokeswoman Ieva Aile told LETA that the municipality has received no news or official statements about "New Wave" or other international events being transferred outside of Latvia.

Aile explained that "Comedy Club" has signed a cooperation agreement with the municipality, stipulating specific dates for the said events.

She also said that while no official denials about the schedule have been received, no other events will be scheduled for the respective dates. If organizers of the said events actually decided to exit Jurmala, the city would look for new cooperation partners, Aile said.

As reported, newspaper "Vesti" reported yesterday about rumors that Russian "New Wave" pop music festival and the KVN and "Comedy Club" stand-up shows will not be able to organize their events in Jurmala anymore by leading Moscow politicians' order.

Recent speculations indicate that "New Wave" could also take place in Crimea.
