Culture minister successful in providing funding for KGB "Corner House" in Riga

BC, Riga, 24.11.2014.Print version
Dace Melbarde, Latvia's minister of culture, "fought and won" funding so that the popular tourist attraction – the notorious Latvian SSR KGB headquarters in midtown Riga, can remain open in 2015, reports LETA.

This specifically means that the so-called "Corner House's" first floor and the basement will be open to the general public for sure next year, with money granted previously (from the emergency budget, EUR 21,532) for central heating and "winterizing" the two floors.

The money allocated recently (EUR 78,000) will be for the exhibition itself. "Our plan is to sign a contract with the Museum of Occupation on securing all that will be necessary, including tour guides," Melbarde pointed out.
