On 1 November, 2013, Statistics Estonia officially opened its new office building at Tatari 51 in Tallinn. The office building has 4,874 square metres of premises. The annual costs of the premises (rent and utilities (heating, electricity, water, maintenance)) are 0.9 million euros. The building accommodates 342 employees.

There are 14.3 square metres of rental area and 8.5 square metres of work area per employee. The information centre and research rooms are on the first floor.

“People’s work performance depends on knowledge, motivation and working conditions. We have significantly improved the working environment of our staff.  Our new building utilises sustainable technical solutions, such as energy-saving windows and walls, heat recovery ventilation and intelligent lighting control,” said Director General of Statistics Estonia Mr Andres Oopkaup at the official opening.

For the past 11 years, Statistics Estonia has rented its office premises. In 2011, Riigi Kinnisvara AS (the state real estate management company) invited tenders for new rental premises for Statistics Estonia. A consortium of three companies (Kaamos Kinnisvara OÜ, Vindor Holding OÜ and Kaamos Ehitus OÜ) submitted the winning tender. Based on various criteria, Vindor Holding OÜ offered the best solution for Statistics Estonia’s new offices – a new building. As a bonus, the contractor agreed to build the office building according to Statistics Estonia’s specifications. The premises at Tatari 51 have been rented to Statistics Estonia for ten years.

The building was designed by Nord Projekt AS and built by Kaamos Ehitus OÜ.
