Estonia uses pollution quota income to renovate rescue service buildings

Juhan Tere, BC, Tallinn, 21.10.2010.Print version
The Estonian state will renovate the buildings of over 30 rescue service units in 2011 with funds received from selling pollution quota, LETA/Delfi reports.

Riigikogu state defence committee chairman Mati Raidma said that this is a very timely and badly needed support to rescue services to keep their pan-Estonian reaction ability at the required level.

Investments amounting to 2.184 billion kroons altogether are planned for 2010-2013 from revenues the state will get from selling pollution quota. The means will be channelled to projects that reduce energy consumption and are environment friendly.
