BC, Riga, 04.12.2017.Print version
Restoration of the Riga Circus building will cost EUR 7 million more than originally planned, Culture Minister Dace Melbarde (National Alliance) told the LNT television today, cites LETA.
The Culture Ministry is considering different options to secure financing
for the project. "The Riga Circus is a building of great cultural and
historic importance, it needs to be restored to its original glory, and we will
do everything in our power to achieve that," said Melbarde.
According to the Procurement Monitoring Bureau's earlier announcement, the
Riga Circus building will be restored by company Velve.
EUR 349,676 has been allotted from the government's emergency funds for
restoration of the building's facade.
The Riga Circus was built in 1888 and is the oldest circus in the Baltic
states. It has the status of a national architectural monument.
