Riga municipal housing management company gets board chairman

Aivars Gontarevs has been appointed the board chairman of Rigas Namu Parvaldnieks municipal housing manager, while Ardis Pavilsons has been appointed a board member, LETA learned from the Riga City Council.

Since 2015 RNP board has had three members – Ivo Lecis, Iveta Zalane and Inga Bulgarina, and in the future the board will consist of five members. Gontarevs will replace the current RNP head Lecis, while Lecis, Zalane and Bulgarina will continue work in the board.


Riga Mayor Nils Usakovs (Harmony) said that the task of former board chairman Lecis was to improve RNP operations in respect to financial and social aspects. "This stage has been completed, and the next reform step is aimed at improvement of service quality," said Usakovs.


Gontarevs explained that his main task will be technical renovation of houses. RNP plans to renovate upo to 500 residential houses a year. He said that this task is ambitious and challenging, but urgent. "Most of the residential houses were built in the 1970-80s, and it was planned to use the for 50 years. In some 10-15 years it will be too late to renovate them," he said.


He also said that he will call on the society to get engage in development and implementation of different projects.


Pavilsons added that another important direction the new management will work will be customer satisfaction.


Gontarevs has higher education in real estate management and a Master’s degree in law and business administration. He has been working as the board chairman of Latio Namsaimnieks housing manager.


As reported, 28 applications were submitted to the two vacant positions.
