The family of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev's press secretary Natalya Timakova has bought EUR 1.3 million-worth property in Jurmala that once belonged to the granddaughters of the first President of Latvia Janis Cakste, TV3 television reports, cites LETA.

The family of Timakova and her husband Alexander Budberg bought the 2,700 square meter property in Jurmala's Lielupe in March 2013. Budberg has been issued a temporary residence permit in Latvia.

According to TV3, the property formerly belonged to Anna Justine Cakste-Rollins and Katrine Cakste Wilson, the granddaughters of Janis Cakste. Their father, Konstantins Cakste, was one of the leaders of the Latvian national resistance movement during World War II and chairman of the Latvian Central Council set up during the war.

He was arrested and deported by the Gestapo and died in a forced march from Stuthof concentration camp in 1945. The home in Jurmala is where Konstantins Cakste spent the last ten years of his life.
