The Government of Lithuania has reviewed the 2015 budget of the State Social Insurance Fund (SoDra) in just one day after it was returned by the Seimas, reports LETA/ELTA.

After recalculation, funds for the programmes implemented by the Social Security and Labour Ministry were increased from LTL 2.9 billion to LTL 3.4 billion (from EUR 0.84 billion to EUR 0.98 billion). Additional LTL 102 million (EUR 29.5 million) should be provided to increase the salaries of civil servants working under employment contracts. Hence salaries of librarians, cultural, social care and other employees are expected to rise by 5 percent on average.

LTL 2.7 billion (EUR 0.78 billion) will be allocated for children's and schoolchildren's benefits, special targeted grants for municipalities, sustenance of social care homes, compensations for housing rental and leasing.

LTL 463 million (EUR 134 million) is projected for the implementation of labour policy. The state budget funds and funds from the Employment Fund (LTL 100 million EUR 29 million) will be allocated to finance active labour market policy, subsidise social companies, legalise new employment forms and active labour market measures. In 2015 active labour market policies should involve around 63,000 people.

LTL 175 million (EUR 50.7 million) will be allocated to municipal budgets to compensate heating, hot and tap water expenses.
