"Given the geographical proximity to Belarus, the two countries' cooperation in the field of agriculture should be definitely greater. It would be mutually beneficial," said Agriculture Minister Ivari Padar. "The memorandum of reciprocal understanding between the ministries that was concluded today is the first step in this direction."

The five-year memorandum of understanding covers plant production, animal farming, farming mechanization, agricultural technology, scientific research in the field of agriculture, veterinary and phytosanitary control, fisheries and aquaculture. The states will compile a joint action plan to implement the memorandum.

Agriculture Minister Ivari Padar is on 24-27 November with a business delegation at a visit to Belarus, where he will meet with the Belarusian Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Trade and dairy and fisheries managers.
