Estonia and Russia distribute border lakes fish resources

BC, Tallinn, 13.11.2014.Print version
Estonia and Russia discuss this week fishing opportunities of different fish in Lakes Peipsi, Lämmijärv and Pskov, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

This year, it was possible to catch a total of 6,802 tonnes of fish in the border lakes, of which Estonia's share is 2,926 tonnes.

In Lakes Peipsi and Lämmijärv, Estonia and Russia can fish for the same amount but Lake Pskov is entirely in the Russian fishing zone, which is why the overall figure is bigger for Russia.

Estonian delegation's head, deputy chancellor Marku Lamp said that it will become clear at the end of the week how next year's fishing quota will exactly be distributed and that the decisions are based on recommendations of both states scientists.
