New campaign commences urging residents to buy Latvia-made goods and products
The people behind the campaign told a press conference yesterday that this would not be a short-term campaign. The goal is to inform the community that, "by making minute choices today, they can improve the well-being of Latvia and themselves tomorrow." During the campaign, Latvia-produced goods and products will be marked with stickers, labels or posters "The Good of Latvia".
"Each time we choose a foreign product, we send someone away from Latvia. Leave foreign products on the shelf, and our own people at home. If every one of us buys local goods just 10 percent more, we will save a total of 20,000 jobs," emphasize the authors of the campaign.
"The goal of the campaign is to change the shopping habits in Latvia, and prompt residents to buy local goods and products," stressed the LCCI head Janis Endzins.
Whereas DDB Latvia head Andris Rubins said that the campaign had been developed over a couple of days. The campaign does not only concern the areas hit by Russia's sanctions, it applies to all goods and products made in Latvia, he explained.
All companies that wish to participate in the campaign have to visit the campaign's website www.latvijaslabums.lv, where they will find further information.
Endzins said that any company could participate in the campaign. Furthermore, it does not require a product to be completely made of Latvian commodities. "The fact of origin is of the main importance, meaning, that a given product is made in Latvia. If someone puts "The Good of Latvia" sticker on a product made in another country, that will mean dishonest business practice, which carries certain consequences," he added.
