The public declaration should reveal the cases when the doctors directing the patients to private institutions

While striving to eliminate the bribes and the shadow economy in the healthcare institutions in Lithuania, the Ministry of Health suggested the amendments to the Law on the adjustment of public and private interests in the civil service aimed at charging doctors, dentists and pharmacists with the duty to declare private interests, informs LETA/ELTA, referring to Respublika.

The amendments to the Law are being passed to the Seimas. The Government approved of the initiative to charge the doctors, dentists and pharmacists with the duty to declare their private interests.

 

According to the amendments to the Law on the adjustment of public and private interests in the civil service, the heads of the institutions and the structural departments will have to declare their private interests publicly.

 

According to Lithuania's Minister of health Vytenis Povilas Andriukaitis, the public declaration could help revealing the cases when the doctors were directing the patients to the private institutions or were encourage them to buy from these companies due to their private interests.
