Vilnius City Mayor Arturas Zuokas calls on Parliament Speaker Loreta Grauziniene and MPs to reject the draft amendments to the Gaming Law, which is being considered at the Seimas at present, informs LETA/ELTA.

According to Zuokas, in this case, a huge number of gaming machines will be placed in cafes, pubs, bars, restaurants, motels and hotels of Vilnius and as a result, minors will have more possibilities to use them, while the possibility of control will be reduced.

"I am completely against such amendments. () It is strange, how can parties presenting themselves as catholic support such amendments and such a law is planned to be considered during the extraordinary session as a matter of utmost importance," said Zuokas.

Under the new amendments to the Law, gaming machines of category B1 with the maximum prize of LTL 100 (EUR 29) would be allowed to be placed in cafes, bars, restaurants, motels, hotels and would be available to all the customers of such places, including minors.

Up till now gaming machines were allowed to be placed only in gaming establishments, the permit to open a gaming establishment in Vilnius was granted only with the consent of Vilnius City Municipality Council.
