Heads of two Estonian big newspapers quit their posts

Executive Chief Editor of Estonia's biggest daily Postimees, Anvar Samost, and Editor-in-Chief of the Eesti Ekspress weekly newspaper Janek Luts announced on Tuesday of quitting their jobs, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

Samost, who is also Manager of AS Postimees, leaves on November 15, Luts on October 17. Both leave at the agreement of sides. Their resignations are not related.

 

For Samost, the official reason cited was that he and the company's council have a different vision on developing the organisation. Samost said he doesn't have any specific future plans.

 

The new Manager and Executive Publisher of AS Postimees will be Mart Luik who currently works as the Board Chairman of magazine publisher Ajakirjade Kirjastus. Merit Kopli continues to be the Editor-in-Chief of the Postimees newspaper.

 

Janek Luts also said that he has no future job in sight. Ekspress Grupp manager Gunnar Kobin said about Luts's resignation that his contribution into development of the newspaper was exhausted. Kobin said that there is no new candidate for the job now and the tasks of editor in chief would be distributed between acting editors till a new chief is found.
