BC, Riga, 30.08.2013.Print version
Anatolijs Aleksejenko (Honor to Serve Riga), who has the status of a suspect in a bribery case that is investigated by the Corruption Prevention Bureau, has been elected to the waste management company Getlini Eko board, informs LETA/Nozare.lv.

According to Firmas.lv information, Aleksejenko was elected Getlini Eko board member yesterday. Getlini Eko board chairman Imants Stirans and board members Aija Breiksa and Raimonds Timma continue to work on the company's board.

Getlini Eko representatives have not made any comments on their newly-elected board member so far.

As reported, Riga Vice Mayor Andris Ameriks (Honor to Serve Riga) suspended Riga City Council Housing and Environment Department Director Anatolijs Aleksejenko (Honor to Serve Riga) from his job on July 1.

He was also banned from fulfilling his duties and approaching his workplace.

Aleksejenko, however, dismisses the allegation and says that the Corruption Prevention Bureau's move is politically-motivated and it may be an attempt by a company not content with his work to "settle a score" with him.

The Corruption Prevention Bureau carried out a search at Aleksejenko's office on June 27.

According to the Latvian State Television, the search lasted several hours – from 10 a.m. until late afternoon. CPB officers seized several packages with potential evidence. Aleksejenko left his office at 1 p.m., accompanied by an investigator.

Aleksejenko, elected to the Riga City Council from the joint ticket of Harmony Center and Honor To Serve Riga, was one of the five deputies who relinquished their mandates on June 20 to keep their posts in the city's executive branch. He was also the department's head during the previous council.
