Mikelsons will assume his duties on December 29, 2012 and will perform them until March 1, 2013 when the Latvian State Television's new board will be approved, writes LETA/Nozare.lv.

As reported, the Latvian Television's Director General Edgars Kots will resign at the end of the year to take a new job offer, Kots told Nozare.lv.

NEMMC member Gints Grube confirmed that Mikelsons, who is currently the council's project manager and is working on the concept of a public electronic mass medium, will be invited to assume the post.

Grube said that only Mikelsons' candidacy will be reviewed during today's session. This is a job for two months and it is important to appoint a person who is familiar with the current situation at the Latvian State Television and capable of performing control functions added Grube.
