The ministry wants to create a label that could be used on different types of sausages if they contain at least 60% of meat and no mechanically recovered meat.
Using the label would be voluntary for entrepreneurs.
The initial idea about creating a classification for sausage products was proposed to the ministry by Tallinn Technical University food institute researchers who noted that the differences in meat content in different sausages in Estonia are very big and these cause confusion for consumers.
