Juhan Tere, BC, Tallinn, 07.08.2012.Print version
Estonian owner of a notorious erotic dancer agency Eurostrip Indrek Mandre today has been sentenced to imprisonment and community service, the Estonian national broadcasting corporation ERR reports.

The entrepreneur has become the country's first person sentenced to community service under newly-introduced human trafficking laws; he was sentenced to two and half years, of them six months have already been served after his arrest in February 2012, and the remaining part of the sentence represent 1,458 hours of community service as an alternative to imprisonment. He has to serve the imprisonment within the next two years, writes LETA.

Mandre accused of pimping, recruiting dancers for working in European clubs, and exposing them to work at "intimate services" sector without. Those employed were unaware of the kind of work, and were forced to do much more than dancing. Mandre was found guilty of exploiting. Under the laws forbidding human trafficking enforceable since April, 2012, Mandre potentially faced 3-15 years behind bars instead of up to five; however, he received milder punishment according to the decision of the Supreme Court which ruled that the laws could not be applied in retroactive.

As reported, late in 2010, the Administrative Court of Tallinn cancelled decision of the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund not to publish vacancies, offered by agency Eurostrip, to Estonians.

The court decided that the Fund's refusal to publish striptease-related jobs was not motivated and made a ruling that a new decision has to be made, keeping in mind the principles of equal treatment.

Eurostrip represented European striptease clubs and erotic theatres in Estonia and Latvia. The agency has over 50 vacancies to offer, also to beginners who can apply for training at Eurostrip school of erotic dance in Tallinn.

On December 17, 2009, Eurostrip dancers opened new erotic theatre in Athens, Kinky Opera, where over 30 female and male dancers from Estonia and Latvia have been employed by now.

Eurostrip agency pointed out that the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund's refusal to publish Eurostrip vacancies discriminates striptease dancers and erotic actors, also is in breach with public interest.
