Estonian Supreme Court acquitted Liviko in the cartel case
Juhan Tere, BC, Tallinn, 01.07.2011.Print version
The Supreme Court of Estonia made public its new ruling in which it acquits Liviko and its CEO Janek Kalvi that were accused by the prosecutor’s office in having concluded a cartel agreement regarding vodka prices, writes LETA/Postimees Online.
The Supreme Court decided to overturn the ruling made by the Harju County Court in May last year and by the Tallinn Circuit Court in November last year.
According to charges brought by the prosecutor’s office, Kalvi ordered that vodka industrialist Aleksander Skoblov tell the owner of the Offex Group Igor Zavizion that the price of a half-litre bottle of vodka should not be lower than 59 kroons and 90 cents in early 2008. The prosecutor’s office found the message when it investigated a major tax fraud case involving Zavizion.
