The investment company called Tremova Ltd., registered in Cyprus, has purchased controlling interest in the Latvian football club Riga Skonto from the Latvian-based Chechen businessman Bislans Abdulmuslimovs, as the club's president, Guntis Indriksons, confirmed to the business information portal Nozare.lv.

''We found persons wishing to help our club. We also hope for investments in Skonto, however, it is too early to comment on this because the deal just went through,'' Indriksons explains.

Tremova Ltd. will now own 98.74% shares in the Latvian football club, informs iLETA.

As reported, Abdulmuslimovs purchased controlling interest in Skonto FC this past September.

Abdulmuslimovs purchased 99.06% shares, with the rest remaining with the club's previous owner, Indriksons, who is also the president of the Latvian Football Federation.

Indriksons previously owned 90% shares in Skonto, with businessmen Vladimirs Solomatins and Guntis Ravis owning 5% each.

LETA also reported, Skonto, which was established in 1993, won the Latvian Football League title last season.

The club ended 2009 with a profit of LVL 301,281.

Profit figures for 2010 have yet to be released.
