Latfood, the company behind Latvia's most popular potato chips "Adazu cipsi", has begun production for its new export brand entitled "Taffel", which will offer "San Trope" potato chips on the Lithuanian and Estonian markets, the business portal Nozare.lv was informed by representatives of the company.

"At present the company exports 48% of its production. The activities of 'Latfood' are directed towards development, and so we are continuing to work for growth in both the domestic and export markets, offering an ever greater range of products," indicated the company's Chairman Valdis Blums, who also stressed that, according to research on consumer and market trends, each country has its own taste preferences mainly based on national customs and cultural specifics.

"Several export products have been developed with different flavors to those offered to the local market. Our exported products include, for example, potato chips with barbecue or paprika flavoring. At the same time, sour cream and onion flavored chips continue to enjoy great popularity both in the local and foreign markets. The new 'San Trope' product is also offered with the much-loved sour cream and chives flavor," said Blums.

Altogether, Latfood offers four savory snack products specifically for export – "Snack Fries", "Taffel", "San diego" and "San Trope", writes LETA.

Latfood was founded in 1993, and is the largest savory snack producer in Latvia with 40% of the market. The company also exports its products to Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, the U.K., Georgia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

Each year, Latfood purchases an average of 11,000 tons of potatoes from 20 Latvian agricultural producers.
