Latvian Advertising Association President Girts Ozols commented to the "Nozare.lv" portal yesterday that in Latvia's advertising practice there are no similar precedents to the meteorite hoax, however, such action could be considered an ethics violation in professional advertising.

Ozols, who is also director of MMS Communications Latvia, said that the idea was a good one, but its realization "not so good."

"If such a prank is pulled, the culprits should not have allowed it to drag on for so long without revealing the truth. The prank became deceit, with all of the consequences that occurred," says Ozols. He adds that the prank made the community feel insecure, reports LETA.

This matter is scheduled to be reviewed by the Latvian Advertising Association's board.

As reported earlier, the meteorite publicity stunt was organized by the mobile phone operator Tele2 in tandem with the media agency Inspired, as business info portal "Nozare.lv" was told by Tele2 PR Director Vita Sirica, who added that the meteorite is part of Tele2's further "communication campaign."
