Via Jurmala Outlet Village, an outlet of different brands located between Riga and Jurmala, is planning to increase the number of tenants 10% to 15% by October, as Andrejs Dozorcevs, member of the board at the project developer Outletico, said during the mall's opening ceremony on Friday.

Because of the measures meant to contain the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, not all potential tenants have managed to move in by the opening of the mall, but by October, there could be tenants from, for instance, United Arab Emirates, Poland and Great Britain operating at the mall, said Dozorcevs.

Outletico marketing manager Anna Zigalova told LETA that EUR 27 mln had been invested in the first round of development of Via Jurmala Outlet Village.

Zigalova is confident that Via Jurmala Outlet Village will be popular with customers, regardless of the Covid-19 impact. "We have our calculations and a business plan, which are corrected according to the situation," she said.

Babite Region Council Chairman Aivars Ositis is pleased with the new mall, pointing out that the project has also posed new challenges to the local government, for instance, putting in order the transport infrastructure.

At the same time, Via Jurmala Outlet Village will foster tourism and create new jobs, said Ositis.

Outletico was registered in March 2016. The company belongs to Esterkin Family Investments (64.5%), Andrejs Dozorcevs (28.75%), Lehmann Investment Corporation (2%), Freims (2 percent), Julija Mihailenko (1.25 %) and three other shareholders.
