BC, Riga, 21.04.2020.Print version
Supermarket chain Rimi Latvia has donated 13 tons of food to Latvian animal shelters with the aim of helping to support the animals living in these shelters at this difficult time, the company's public relations head Regina Ikala told LETA.

He said that the food will allow to feed approximately 600 cats and 450 dogs at shelters in Riga, Jelgava, Jekabpils, Daugavpils, Aluksne, Saldus, Talsi, Kekava, Dobele and Ventspils for the next several months.

Ikala said that at the beginning of the state of emergency period Rimi Latvia contacted Latvian animal shelters and learned that the flow of donations to many shelters had completely stopped and there was a critical shortage of animal food.

"We took immediate action to provide them with support and so that our four-legged friends would have enough food until when the situation stabilizes. We invite those who have the opportunity to donate food, even during these difficult times, and not forget about animals that do not have a place to call home," Ikala invited.
