Four companies recognized as winners in Riga City Council's tender for waste management services

Four companies have been recognized as winners in a municipal waste management procurement tender announced by the Riga City Council's Housing and the Environment Department, LETA has learned.

Clean R will be responsible for waste management services in Riga's Center District and Latgale District, as well as Kurzeme District in Pardaugava.


Lautus and Pilsetvides Serviss will provide waste management services in Zemgale District, Pardaugava, while Eco Baltia Vide - in Vidzeme District and Northern District.

Contracts with the four companies have not been signed as yet as the procurement results can be contested within 11 days.


The maximum combined value of the waste management contracts is EUR 268.3 mln, excluding VAT. The contracts will be concluded for a period of seven years or until the Competition Council's final decision if Tiriga's concession agreement is found to be valid and Tiriga is allowed to conclude waste management agreements with residents.

 

Eco Baltia Vide will have approximately 260,000 clients in Northern and Vidzeme districts. There are approximately 203,000 residents in Center and Latgale districts. 127,000 residents live in Kurzeme District and 103,000 in Zemgale District.


Northern District and Vidzeme District have the largest area, about 13,297 hectares. Zemgale District's area is about 3,966 hectares. Kurzeme District has an area of 7,615 hectares, and Center District - about 4,970 hectares.


As reported, Riga City Council on December 5 announced a new tender to provide waste management services in the capital city based on the new waste management regulations.
