Estonian craft gin producer Lahhentagge is planning to raise up to 200,000 euros via the Fundwise platform for entering foreign markets, informed LETA/BNS.

"We are raising additional capital mainly to reach foreign markets faster and larger. We are already on sale in seven foreign countries today, but expanding the network takes time and requires investment in the initial phase of it," Tarmo Virki, one of the founders of Lahhentagge, told.

"Today, we are on the Czech, French, German, Finnish, Swedish, Latvian and Lithuanian market, in many of the best cocktail bars of Prague and Paris, for example," he added.

According to Virki, a large number of new small producers have entered the market in recent years and have thus also made life a little more difficult. "Inevitably, at some point, the same will happen as happened with beer brewers -- those smaller and more local will be in difficulty in a few years," he said.

"Today, we are probably the ones with the widest international reach among newcomers and our roots in Saaremaa contribute to our uniqueness. At the same time, we do not really define ourselves as alcohol producers -- today, more than half of our revenue comes from non-alcoholic beverages," Virki said.

"Since 2018 already, we have been making tonics with the main raw ingredient of it coming from the Christmas trees of cities. For Christmas, we also launched the first Estonian non-alcoholic gin, Flaneur," he added.
