Riga Eastern Hospital cut loss by 40% thanks to cost saving and restructuring in 2019
In addition to that, Riga Eastern Hospital reduced the loss of its Laboratory Service by EUR 1.5 mln, the hospital's board chairman informed.
As a result of merging five inpatient institutions, Riga Eastern Hospital has boosted its efficiency and reduced losses, Paeglitis said, noting that after the merger, patients are first taken to the Gailezers clinic for examination before they are transferred to respective units for treatment.
Other measures include streamlining the emergency treatment and admission functions by setting up a joint emergency and admission clinic. The hospital has also introduced a joint laboratory service and rehabilitation clinic.
The number of job vacancies at Riga Eastern Hospital has reduced by 18%, but there are still shortages of some medical specialists, Pagelitis said.
According to information available at Firmas.lv, Riga Eastern Hospital closed 2018 with EUR 118.51 mln in turnover, up 20% against a year before, and the hospital's loss was EUR 5.9 mln. Riga Eastern Hospital employs 4,422 people.
