The foreign direct investment projects attracted in the first six months of this year to Lithuania should result in over 2,500 new jobs, with job listing portals already reporting an increased number of vacancies in international companies, Lietuvos Zinios daily said, cites LETA/BNS.
Invest Lithuania, a governmental foreign investment promotion agency,
attracted 18 foreign direct investment projects in the first half of the year
2017, which plan on creating about 2.530 new jobs within three years. Although
the number of projects was higher in the first six months of 2016 (19), the
planned number of jobs grew by 37%, from 1,800 planned last year.
"This cannot be viewed as a major jump, however, international
companies, especially new arrivals and expanding operations in Lithuania,
overall published 7% more job offers than they did in the same period last
year," said Rita Karavaitiene,
marketing director at CV-Online LT.
