Timchenko quits as editor-in-chief of Meduza news site

Galina Timchenko has quit as editor-in-chief of the Riga-based Russian online newspaper and news aggregator Meduza, informs LETA/BNS.
Timchenko's deputy Ivan Kolpakov has taken over as the news site's editor-in-chief, Meduza said in a statement.
Timchenko will carry on as director general and founder of Meduza Project and will continue her involvement in the project's further development.
Alexander Polivanov has been appointed deputy editor-in-chief.
As reported, former chief editor of the Russian news site Lenta.ru, Galina Timchenko, officially launched her project Meduza on October 20, 2014. The project was registered in Latvia to avoid Russia's censorship.
