BC, Vilnius, 24.09.2015.Print version
A delegation of experts from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus visited Lithuania last week. They assessed cold stores and fish processing establishments, which export their production to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, Lithuania's State Food and Veterinary Service (VMVT) reports LETA/ELTA.

According to the agenda that was agreed in advance, the experts, who had been put into two groups, visited four fish processing establishments and four cold stores from which fish is exported. Furthermore, they were provided opportunities to receive detailed information on the official control system that ensures the safety and quality of fish and fishery products applied by the VMVT as well as the laboratory analyses carried out at the National Food and Veterinary Risk Assessment Institute and other relevant information.

"This is a working visit just like other visits before. The objective of such visits is to ascertain if the control system in the country as well as the self-control system in each individual exporting establishment ensure the conformity of the delivered production with requirements of the importing country. I hope that this visit is going to be successful as well, having in mind that our establishments producing fishery products export their production to more than 70 countries and that they are recognised as very modern and in conformity with the highest food safety and quality standards," said VMVT Director Dr. Jonas Milius.
