Liviko experienced notable slump in exports in 2014

Whereas Estonian Liviko managed to increase its net earnings by 27% in 2014, exports of its products fell by more than 20%, writes Äripäev/LETA.

Exports of Liviko's own products fell by 22% in the year-on-year comparison. The company's CEO Janek Kalvi said that Liviko gave up less profitable sub-contracting orders, and there were unfavourable changes on their important exports markets. He added that trade restrictions in Russia and the beginning of military activity in Ukraine had a paralysing impact on exports to these countries.

Domestic sales of Liviko's own production output fell by 3.4%.

“Competition on the alcohol market has become even more fierce than before, and consumers' reaction to surges in excise tax rates was more pained than predicted. Sales of vodka declined the most; this category is very sensitive to turbulences in taxes and lucrative for illegal trade,” commented Kalvi.
