BC, Riga, 10.06.2015.Print version
Joint-stock metallurgical company KVV Liepajas metalurgs is delaying payments to energy supplier Latvenergo and gas supplier Latvijas Gaze, LETA found out from both companies.

The companies have not revealed how much KVV Liepajas metalurgs owes them, but both point out that they continuing to supply the metallurgical company with both gas and electricity.

However, both companies also warn that if Liepajas metalurgs does not pay its energy and gas bills, they could cut-off supply.

As reported, KVV Liepajas metalurgs has been forced to cut its production volumes at the plant's steel melting facility, as the company claims that costs are preventing it from competing with similar metallurgical companies in other countries. It was also said that the company is laying off 15% of its staff.

At the beginning of May, 960 people had a job at KVV Liepajas metalurgs. However, by the end of May, the company's board announced that KVV Liepajas metalurgs would keep about 300 employees.
