LTV to fork over EUR 26,000 in damages to its ex-star Domburs

BC, Riga, 26.03.2015.Print version
Latvian State Television (LTV) will have to turn to its own resources to come up with the almost EUR 26,000 in damages it will have to pay one of its former stars, journalist/moderator/host Janis Domburs, cites LETA.

Domburs sued LTV after his popular talk show "What's Happening in Latvia?"/"Kas notiek Latvija?" fell prey to yet another programming revamp at LTV. For the new version of the show, no open call was held for the producer and/or moderator – that would have given Domburs a decent chance. Feeling he should have been informed exclusively, his lawyers filed for damages, citing breaches of contract.

LTV spokesman Klavs Radzins underlined that the contract in question was signed December 2008, "when LTV had a completely different management, board and staff, many of whom no longer work here." Therefore, this conflict, Radzins emphasizes, has been "handed down from predecessors", and LTV will have no comment about its actions.
