BC, Tallinn, 13.03.2015.Print version
Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR) announced that it chose Darya Saar as the head of its new Russian channel that will launch broadcasts in autumn, informs LETA.

23 applications were submitted to the contest. ERR board member Ainar Ruussaar said at the finish line they had a choice of four very strong candidates.

Ruussaar said that the choice was very difficult. "Darya Saar's vision was very confident. It was a forward-looking one. She quite clearly realized that it's not just a TV channel, but a multi-media project. We hope for the best," said Ruussaar.

The new channel will be created in cooperation with the existing ERR programmes and the task of the newly elected editor in chief is to concentrate the energy and apply it in the new channel.

"I am confident that under the management of Darya Saar, the Public Broadcasting will bring to viewers an independent media channel with a completely new face, one of the aims of which is also offering Russian-speaking journalists, experts and opinion leaders the opportunity of being heard and freedom of expression," added Ruussaar.

Saar has a master's degree of social sciences from the Tallinn University. Since 2010, she is a member of the Entrum foundation and one of the creators of nationwide entrepreneurship ideas contest and development program Entrum meant for schoolchildren. She has media experiences from PBK and SKY Radio.
