Latvia's fish product export down in both tons and value in 9 months

In the first nine months of 2014, compared to the same period of the previous year, Latvia's fish product export reduced both in tons and in value, LETA was informed by the Agriculture Ministry.

The export of fish products in tons reduced by 0.9%, but in value by 1.4%.

 

In the first nine months of 2014, Latvian exported 42,600 tons of fish products worth EUR 58.9 million.

 

Latvia exported its fish products to 51 different countries.

 

In 2014, Latvian began exporting its fish products to South Korea, China and Turkey, but ceased exporting fish products to Slovenia and Bahrain.

 

Latvia's most important market was to countries within the Commonwealth of Independent States, where Latvia registered a 0.4% increase in exports in the first nine months of 2014.

 

Latvia's second most important market is the EU, where fish exports dropped by 2.4%.

 

In countries outside the CIS and the EU, Latvia's fish product exports reduced in Mongolia, Israel and the United States last year, but increased in the United Arab Emirates, Japan, New Zealand, Macedonia and Serbia.

 

However, Latvia did increase fish product exports to such EU countries as France, Germany, Great Britain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Finland and Spain, but reduced in Austria, Belgium, Italy and Ireland.
