Estonian medical employees collective labour agreement, which includes a wage increase, was signed on Friday finally at the National Conciliator in the Ministry of Social Affairs, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

With the Estonian Health Insurance Fund list of health services that the government approved of on Thursday, the minimum gross hourly wages of doctors, nurses and caregivers will be increased to 9 euros for doctors, 5 euros for nurses and 3 euros for caregivers.

According to the previous collective agreement, the doctor's minimum hourly gross wage was 8, that of nurses 4.5 and carers 2.6 euros.

Doctors' Union representative Andres Kork said that the Union is pleased with the agreement. "I think the most important message now is that step-by-step, within two years the situation will improve. This message is one that keeps young people, at least some of them, from leaving Estonia, which is the most important thing right now because we know how rarely now one can see a young doctor or a nurse. "

It is the largest scale collective agreement in Estonia because it covers approximately twenty thousand health care workers.
