All limitations on benefits to be lifted in 2015 in Latvia

BC, Riga, 08.12.2014.Print version
All restrictions on social insurance allowances and family benefits that were adopted in 2009 could be lifted in 2015, informs LETA, referring to a report by the Welfare Ministry.

Taking into account that the maximum limit on social insurance contributions was restored this year, limitations on social insurance allowances must be lifted next year, the ministry indicates.

This means that in 2015, state support payments to families will be increased from EUR 11.38 per child now to a differentiated sum according to the number of children in a family.

The January 1, 2010 limitations on health and unemployment benefits will also be lifted, as well as the January 1, 2013 limitations on maternity, paternity, and parental benefits.

The government is still to decide on the proposal and will most probably make a decision on the matter on Tuesday, December 9.
