CSR Baltic representatives signed the agreement of cooperation

On 23rd of October, 2014 in Riga, Corporate Social Responsibility Platform of Latvia (CSR Latvia), Responsible Business Forum in Estonia (CSR Estonia) and Responsible Business Association in Lithuania – LAVA (CSR Lithuania – LAVA) signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that intends to strengthen Baltic level cooperation between parties for CSR recognition as business and societies value, informed CSR Latvia.

Baltic countries and markets are small and the corporate social responsibility (CSR) has a diverse recognition among businesses as well society. Although the level of recognition and understanding of CSR varies from business industries and companies size as well the business strategies of the companies in Baltics. Baltic level cooperation is important to focus on companies who are working as part of global business as they see Baltics as one region. Other focus recognized by parties are joint initiatives towards policy making in national, regional and Europe level to support public decision makers for creation or adaption of balanced regulation to support responsible businesses.

 

CSR Latvia Chairwoman of the Board Agnese Alksne: “It is important for Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to join forces to develop CSR in each country and common Baltic level. We are looking forward to work together with our new partners and bring forward the CSR recognition as business and society’s value in Baltics.”

 

CSR Estonia Executive Director Marko Siller: “It is important that the MOU recognizes CSR Latvia, CSR Estonia and CSR Lithuania – LAVA as the national level CSR issues representative organizations. It gives us a proper base to work together and become more aware of common issues about CSR and needs for businesses in Baltic level.”

 

CSR Lithuania – LAVA Chairwoman of the Board Audrone Alijosiute: “We are committed to share the information about our organizations activities, exchange experiences of the business best practices of CSR in Baltic level as well to learn from each other how to work with decision makers in national and Baltic as well European level. We hope to have a fruitful cooperation as far as this initiative is giving us already much inspiration to understand better businesses in Baltic level.”

 

The most important commitment of cooperation is to initiate joint activities and positions towards policy making in national, regional and Europe level to support public decision makers for creation or adaption of balanced regulation to support responsible businesses. Other commitments of the MOU include the intention to share the information, co-ordinate mutually relevant issues and activities. Organizations agreed to set up or agree upon, and promote a framework what we consider a good understanding of CSR in Baltic level.
