Justice Minister Baiba Broka (All For Latvia!-For Fatherland And Freedom/LNNK) could step down following Prosecutor General Eriks Kalnmeiers' decision to uphold the Constitutional Protection Bureau's decree banning Broka from accessing classified information; the minister will make the final decision in the coming days, informs LETA.

Broka is considering resigning, but the final decision will be made within a few days, the minister's press secretary Inese Aunina confirmed to LETA. The minister's priority number one at the moment is to solve the current situation, she added.

Broka will most probably turn to the European Court of Human Rights now, said Aunina.

As reported, Kalnmeiers has upheld the Constitutional Protection Court's decision to ban Broka from accessing classified information. Speaking to the LNT television, Imants Paradnieks, one of the leaders of All For Latvia!-For Fatherland And Freedom/LNNK, declined to say whether the party would urge Broka to stay in office or nominate another person to work as the justice minister. The decision is to be made by the party's board, he added.
