Lithuanian State Patent Bureau and European Patent Office sign cooperation plan

On 25 June, 2014 a bilateral cooperation plan (BCP) for 2014-2016 has been signed between Benoit Battistelli, President of European Patent Office (EPO), and Rimvydas Naujokas, Director of the State Patent Bureau of the Republic of Lithuania (SPB) during the 140th meeting of the Administrative Council of the European Patent Organization in Hague, informs BC the State Patent Bureau.

The plan outlines projects for international exchanges and cooperation in the field of industrial property protection. The projects include the fields of training, qualification improvement, and information systems related to patents and dissemination of patent information.

 

The implementation of these projects would create a unified information system of dissemination, allowing the users to use effective services of national and European patent system and results of patent search by creating benefits for both companies that create and use innovations. Modern information systems that would help to install the e-filing, effective and operative patent data exchange will be installed in the SPB.

 

Also, the cooperation plan includes training of judges and patent attorneys, qualification improvement courses for the employees of national patent offices, and organization of other patent related events. Lithuania is the 26th national office which signed BCP with the EPO.
