Unity's and Reform Party’s leaders sign official pact in Latvia

BC, Riga, 06.01.2014.Print version
Unity leader Solvita Aboltina and Reform Party (RP) Chairman of the Board Edmunds Demiters officially put their signatures on a memorandum declaring the two parties' close ties in Latvia, informs LETA.

Aboltina emphasized that this agreement already had the approval of the boards of both parties.

At the end of the year, RP and Unity announced their intention to cooperate in the 12th Saeima elections. A decision was made that candidates would run under the Unity banner, and that those RP members wanting to be on the ticket, will have to become a Unity member.

The unofficial word from the RP camp has a different interpretation of what was agreed on, i.e. that a candidate from RP does not necessarily have to join Unity.
