Godmanis bans all government agencies from using budget money for staff recreational events

Print versionPrime Minister of Latvia Ivars Godmanis (Latvia's First Party/Latvia's Way) has issued a ban on any use of national budget money for staff recreational events for all ministries, the Corruption Prevention Bureau, the Civil Service Administration, the Information Analysis Office and the State Chancellery.

The ban pertains to all units operating under the auspices of the above, and this means no parties, balls or other rest and relaxation events with budget funding, reports LETA.
As the State Chancellery's Communications Department explained, this move has been made taking into account the slide in the 2008 national budget revenues.
This restriction does not pertain to those agencies authorized by 'the Cabinet of Ministers to mark the 90th anniversary of the Republic of Latvia.
