Dzintars Jaundzeikars.

As reported, Jaundzeikars is under suspicion for violating Criminal Law, Paragraph 94 and Paragraph 144 – instigating divulgence of state secrets, and dissemination of confidential information in correspondence or by telephone.

The TV3 investigative news program ''Neka Personiga'' reported this past weekend that Jaundzeikars was given top-secret information from a Corruption Prevention Bureau (CBP) officer in exchange for money. There are three suspects in this case altogether, as a go-between was used by the former interior minister and CPB officer, writes LETA.

LETA also reported, CPB agents arrested Jaundzeikars early November 2nd after searching his home in Limbazi District (northeastern Latvia). He was ordered held in custody November 3rd.

Jaundzeikars, seen as a close associate of one of Latvia's so-called oligarchs, Ainars Slesers, was interior minister in the Aigars Kalvitis government from 2005 to 2010.

Law enforcement institutions have not revealed the reason the criminal process against Jaundzeikars has been started, however, there are several unofficial rumors. One of the rumors is that Jaundzeikars was collecting information for Slesers. This information was supposedly given to Jaundzeikars by former CPB chief Normunds Vilnitis.
