Alla Petrova, BC, Riga, 08.11.2011.Print version
Counsel for jailed former MP and Interior Minister Dzintars Jaundzeikars, Pavels Rebenoks, has filed an appeal in Riga Central District Court on the custody measure set against his client, reports LETA.

Dzintars Jaundzeikars.

The ruling could come in about one week.

Rebenoks told LETA that he has appealed because "rights are being limited for Dzintars Jaundzeikars to defend himself."

Jaundzeikars is under suspicion for violating Criminal Law, Paragraph 94 and Paragraph 144 – instigating divulgence of state secrets, and dissemination of confidential information in correspondence or by telephone.

Corruption Prevention Bureau agents arrested Jaundzeikars early November 2nd after searching his home in Limbazi District. He was ordered held in custody November 3rd.
