Corruption is the most important problem in Northern Estonia

Print versionEstonian residents perceive corruption the most urgently in Northern Estonia, appeared from the recently compiled local corruption perception index, writes Postimees Online.
Ranking next in terms of corruption perception was Southern Estonia, Eastern Estonia and Western Estonia.
According to deputy Secretary General of the Finnish Ministry of Justice Juha Keränen, the expert in the project, this is the first attempt to implement the methodology used by Transparency International on the local level.
Prefect of the North Circuit Police Prefecture Elmar Vaher officially handed over the corruption perception index results to minister of justice Rein Lang. The objective of the project was to contribute to decreasing corruption in Estonia.
