Under Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga's decree, in effect as of Friday, the new rule will only apply to patients diagnosed with a mild form of coronavirus. 

Patients will not need to get retested to prove they no longer have the disease, but their recovery will have to be confirmed by their general practitioner. 

Until now, patents had to self-isolate for 14 days and needed to test negatively twice after the quarantine period.  

If a patient's symptoms linger for longer than 10 days after the onset, they will have to stay in isolation for three days after the symptoms have disappeared.

In severe cases, patients can be released from isolation after 20 days if they no longer feel the symptoms and have had no fever for the last 24 hours without using medicine.  

People who test positive but have no symptoms will have to stay in isolation for 10 days from the testing date.  

The rules were changed taking into account scientists' recommendations and other countries' practice, the ministry said.
