Maris Riekstins to be Latvia's new ambassador to Russia

Print versionLatvian Foreign Ministry General Inspector Maris Riekstins on August 17 will receive credentials from President Raimonds Vejonis and will become Latvia's new ambassador to Russia, the president's agenda suggests, informs LETA.

Riekstins will replace incumbent Ambassador to Russia Astra Kurme who has been in the position since late 2013.
In the past, Riekstins served as Latvia's Permanent Representative to NATO,
headed the Latvian delegation to the NATO accession talks and worked as the
Latvian foreign minister.
Meanwhile, Kurme will receive credentials from the president and will
become the new ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Latvia's current non-residing Ambassador to UAE is Maris Selga who resides in Beijing, China.
