Police start criminal process on violations during construction of Prisma supermarket in Riga

The State Police have started a criminal process on gross violations during the construction of the Prisma supermarket in Riga's Plavnieki neighborhood. At the moment, there are no suspects in the case, the State Police's spokesman Dairis Anucins told LETA.

The police took the decision after receiving a petition from the State Construction Supervision Bureau which had concluded, after analyzing information provided by Aivvii Centrs, the owner of the building, and inspecting the building, that building design and specifications were not fully adhered to during the construction of the building.


As reported, Prisma Deglava supermarket was closed by construction supervision authorities this past June after they concluded that the building was not safe for customers and staff.


The supermarket building at 30 Andreja Saharova Street was built by Castor Construction, the building opened in October 2012. According to Firmas.lv, Castor Construction belongs to Janis Milzarajs (33.3% share) and Finnish citizens Kimmo Kalevi Ruokomaki (33.33%) and Risto Mati Sakari Hieka (33.33%).
